HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008

I want to wish the world a happy new year. After the year I just experienced, this one should be a piece of cake in comparison. I can only hope so, anyway. It has been a year of new beginnings and lots of endings too. I would compare my year as something comparable to an episode from the twilight zone series. I learned things about our society that I wish were not true. Now in light of these new learning's, I find myself in a situation to which I must fight my way back above ground so I can survive. It isn't a happy situation by any stretch of the term. I have developed a much more empathetic nature for those who must deal with labels (deserved or not deserved)to which every basic need for survival has been affectedly compromised. We have a system that will not allow anyone whether proven guilty or not, find a way to earn a living in any normal manner. It is ridiculous that it only takes an accusation for arrest, with out a trial, and your name is mud. Forget about the evidence all together. I am appalled at what I have seen some people near and dear to me have to go through just to find employment to feed and shelter themselves. It is a travesty. The system is broken and we need to find a way to fix it now. I hope that 2008 wakes up many people who are living in a dream world. We are headed in an ugly direction in many different ways right now. It will only get worse if we pretend all is well in LaLaland, USA

LIAM

MEET MY NEPHEW, LIAM!
I am so pleased to introduce you to this handsome little devil. Not only is he my first nephew, he is the first grandchild my parents have ever known. It was looking like it would never happen but then out of no where, he arrived! Born in July 2007, he was delivered 2 days after our grandmother passed away. It is truly unfortunate timing especially since his conception was around the time our other grandmother passed away. Yep, both grandmothers died during my sister's nine month pregnancy. Sad but so true. It is a shame that both of these women missed out on meeting their great-grandson. This kid is cuter than any other I have seen in awhile. Considering the DNA from which he was created, I suspect a future Oscar winning mega star, writer, singer, and producer. Both his parents are talented and the boy is already high maintenance, got star stamped all over his little muggy mug. I never seen so many different facial expressions coming from one human (especially an infant) in such a short period of time than I have witnessed with Liam. This kid is a natural actor. I can't wait to see his first movie. Anyway, I just want to share the joy of being the Krazy Aunt Krissy to such an amazing little boy. If I didn't know better, his little angelic face almost makes me want to have one of my own.....LOL....Yeah, right. Still, I have my little nephew Liam to sustain me and any unsuspecting maternal urges that could creep up. All I need is a puppy and some Liam and that should do me good. Thanks Kelly and Kevin. After the job you did with the first one, you guys may have to produce another winning sequel together.

lost in translation

I am looking for a translation of this asian symbol. It is engraved on a piece of ivory that is well over 30 plus years. I have owned it since I was a little kid. Even then it was old so no telling how old it really is. I believe that part of the meaning is ETERNAL or ETERNITY but I am not certain. I really need some information as to the meaning if anyone knows Chinese. Don't be shy, please hit me back with an answer.
Thanks
